MLB Trade Rumors: 4 Under-the-Radar Trade Candidates This Season

While we've heard the names Luis Robert Jr., Sandy Alcantara, and Nolan Arenado frequently on the trade boards for this season, they won't be the only ones to occupy the rumor mill. There are some 'under the radar' trade candidates to be considered as well.

With the help of Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report, let's have a look at four of those names that aren't on everyone's lips when it comes to trade gossip.

Josh Bell, Washington Nationals

The big first baseman isn't usually top of mind when it comes to the rumor mill, but he has been dealt at each of the last three trade deadlines, and the odds are, he will be again in 2025.

He's back with the Washington Nationals this season, after they had shipped him out at the deadline in '22. But the Nats aren't quite ready to be true playoff contenders this season and should be ready to deal off some pieces later in the summer, and it's certainly possible that Bell will be needed elsewhere once again as a complementary bat come the end of July.

Andrew Heaney, Pittsburgh Pirates

The left-hander has been with five different teams over the last four seasons, and as he's off to a tremendous start this year, with a 2.13 ERA through four starts, he could be a big trade piece for the Pirates. They will not be contending for a playoff spot either this year, and a solid, veteran lefty (if he's still pitching that way, or even close to it), is always a sought-after piece come the trade deadline.

German Marquez, Colorado Rockies

The 30-year-old righty has been toiling away in the worst pitching environment in the majors for a decade now. He's back from a year off due to Tommy John surgery, and is off to a very slow start. But if he starts to come around by mid-season, maybe some team will finally take a chance on seeing what this guy could do in a ballpark that doesn't give pitchers nightmares.

Kyle Finnegan, Washington Nationals

He was a late signing this spring, as the Nats finally relented and brought back their closer. But as Kelly points out, "Finnegan is a good bet to be dealt this summer as the Nationals are unlikely to be able to keep pace with the Phillies, Atlanta Braves and New York Mets in the NL East."

He'd make a great set-up man for a contending team already with a closer in place.
