MLB Rumors: Insider Reveals Cardinals' Nolan Arenado Begging To Join One Team

The buzz around Nolan Arenado and the Los Angeles Dodgers just won't go away.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the St. Louis Cardinals are still open to moving the eight-time All-Star, and Arenado would reportedly “do cartwheels” for a chance to join his hometown Dodgers. While Los Angeles doesn’t have an immediate need at third base with Max Muncy in place, Muncy’s early struggles — including a .178 batting average and no home runs through 23 games — could open the door for an unexpected midseason move.

Nolan Arenado’s Dream of Playing for the Dodgers Remains Alive

Nightengale told Dodgers Nation's Doug McKain that Arenado already turned down trades to both Houston and the Los Angeles Angels this past offseason, reinforcing that the Dodgers are his top choice.

“The Cardinals still want to move him,” Nightengale said. “If something ever happened to Muncy, Arenado would jump up and down to have a chance to go to the Dodgers.” Arenado, who holds a no-trade clause, would have the final say — but insiders suggest he wouldn’t hesitate to waive it if L.A. came calling.

With Arenado posting a solid start to 2025 — batting .267 with an .800 OPS and stellar defense — the connection between the Dodgers and the All-Star remains a fascinating storyline to watch as the season unfolds.

For now, the Dodgers seem content to ride with Muncy, but if the opportunity arises to land a hometown superstar itching to wear Dodger blue, it might just be too tempting to pass up.
