Dodgers Add Another Former World Series Champion To the Roster

The LA Dodgers all have their World Series rings from the 2024 season (and some are still around from 2020), and now they've added another former world champ to the big league roster, and a Dodger-killer at that, in outfielder Eddie Rosario.

The 33-year-old was off to a blistering start with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, batting .339 with six doubles, two homers and 12 RBIs in 14 games.

He was acquired by the Atlanta Braves at the 2021 trade deadline, and had a significant impact, winning the National League Championship Series MVP on the team's run to the World Series title. The Dodgers were the victim of his superhuman performance in that NLCS, as he went 14-for-24 with three home runs and nine RBIs.

That earned him a new contract with the Braves, and he stayed with the team for a couple of more seasons, including a strong 2023 in which he hit 21 homers and had a .755 OPS in 142 games. But last year was a big dud for Rosario, as he started the year with the Washington Nationals, but was DFA'd by them on July 1st, before signing a minor league contract to return to the Braves.

But it wasn't quite 2021 again, as he batted just .154 in 24 games back in the ATL, and was forced to sign a minor league deal with the Dodgers this spring.

They're hoping he can recapture some of what he showed them back in 2021 as an opposition players, as they've now brought him up to the big club after his strong start at Triple-A.

Rosario has also suited up for the Minnesota Twins (2015-20) and the Cleveland Guardians (2021) in his 10-year major league career. He has a lifetime .261 batting mark, with 169 homers, and a 100 OPS+, exactly league average.

He's in the lineup for LA on Saturday, and has recorded his first hit in Dodger Blue.
