5 Teams Named In Pursuit of "Most Likely Player To Be Traded" This Season

His name has been out there for about a year now as a prime trade candidate. And yet, three weeks into the 2025 major league season, he's still a member of the Chicago White Sox. But that doesn't mean that teams aren't pursuing Luis Robert Jr.

On the contrary, according to Insider and former MLB general manager Jim Bowden, he writes in The Athletic that Robert is the "most likely player to be traded" this season, and five teams are the most likely to land him.

But it'll be costly, as the White Sox are looking for two top-10 prospects in return.

Cincinnati Reds

Earlier this spring, Bowden predicted the Reds as the landing spot for the outfielder, and even speculated on a return of Cincinnati shortstop prospects Edwin Arroyo and Tyson Lewis and right-hander Luke Hayden.

Seattle Mariners

This is a team that's in desperate need of an offensive boost, as they have been for over a year now. The 38 home runs Robert posted in 2023 would certainly come in handy.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phils have been long-associated with a Robert trade, as their outfield could use an upgrade from the likes of Brandon Marsh and Max Kepler. The White Sox talented centerfielder would indeed represent a significant upgrade.

Kansas City Royals

The Royals were hoping to be a serious competitor for the AL Central crown this season, but they are currently dead last in all of baseball in home runs hit (10), and they're second-worst in OPS (.582). Robert Jr. would help.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Of course, the Dodgers have to be on this list because... well... they're the Dodgers, and anytime there's a big name available, they've got to be considered. Besides, center field is certainly a spot at which they could use a offensive boost.
