TRADE: Braves & Reds Complete Swap for Speedster
The Atlanta Braves have added a speedster to their outfield mix, swinging a trade with the Cincinnati Reds for four-year veteran Stuart Fairchild.

Fairchild was DFA'd by the Reds before Opening Day, and the Braves have moved in to take the 29-year-old off Cinci's hands in return for cash considerations.
He's played 229 games for the Reds over the past 2+ seasons, swiping 23 bases in 29 attempts, while recording 18 HR and 64 RBIs with a slash line of .232/.316/.403 for an OPS of .719, just a bit below the major league average by OPS+.
Fairchild is a very good defensive outfielder, finishing in the 86th percentile in Outs Above Average last season. He has ten Defensive Runs Saved and nine Outs Above Average in his 227 games in the outfield during his career, having played all three OF spots equally well.
He is out of options, so he will maintain an active roster spot in Atlanta. He will now replace the suspended Jurickson Profar in the outfield mix, along with Michael Harris II, Jarred Kelenic, Bryan De La Cruz and Eli White. Keep in mind, though, that Ronald Acuna Jr. and the recently signed Alex Verdugo will eventually be ready to go within the next several weeks, which will obviously change the Braves' outfield dynamic.
Fairchild has just a few weeks, then, to make his mark and prove that he should stick around.
