MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees Refused 'Multiple Offers' For Starting Pitcher
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, several teams inquired about Warren, but the Yankees refused to move him. "New York believed Warren was better than that, and he is rewarding the support with an impressive spring and likely rotation spot,” Passan reported.
Warren posted a 10.32 ERA in six appearances last season, though much of the damage came from two starts in which he allowed 13 of his 26 earned runs.

This spring, Warren has made a strong case for a rotation spot, going 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA in four appearances. Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised his development, saying, “He’s got the stuff to do it. I just want to continue to see him make strides, which has been encouraging.”
Catcher Austin Wells echoed the sentiment, calling Warren “an important part of the team” and emphasizing the effectiveness of his breaking pitches.
MLB.com ranks Warren as the Yankees' No. 5 prospect, citing his fastball and high-spin slider as key weapons.

The Yankees’ decision to keep Warren appears even more crucial now that ace Gerrit Cole will miss the entire 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Luis Gil is also sidelined until at least June, leaving the team in need of rotation depth.
While the Yankees added Max Fried on an eight-year, $218 million deal to lead the staff, they need reliable arms behind him. Warren has positioned himself as a key option, proving that New York made the right call in holding onto him.
