MLB Trade Rumors: Jordan Montgomery Garnering Trade Interest
Jordan Montgomery was left out to dry by his agent Scott Boras in the winter of 2023-24, which had a cascading effect leaving the left-hander to have a disastrous year with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He didn't sign a contract until after the eve of the 2024 season, leaving him playing catch-up all year, and finishing with a 6.23 ERA.
He picked up his $22.5M option for the 2025 season, but the Snakes are looking to move on and give him a fresh start elsewhere. It sounds like there are a few potential takers.
There has been recent interest from a few teams in trading for Diamondbacks starter Jordan Montgomery. After a solid 2 2/3 scoreless outing today against Colorado in a spring training start there may be more.

A report from John Gambadoro says that there "has been recent interest from a few teams" in dealing for Montgomery. No particular teams were named.
The 32-year-old had three straight strong seasons for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers before heading into free agency after the 2023 season. But Boras had him hold out all winter for a massive big payday which never came.
He signed a one-year deal with a vesting option with Arizona one year ago.
At this point, Montgomery doesn't even have a spot in the D'Backs rotation, though after a horrid first spring start, he turned in a nice 2 2/3 scoreless innings against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. There were obviously some scouts watching, and perhaps a trade can be worked out.
We happen to know of two teams that are in dire need of some rotation help due to injuries, that could be interested parties. One of them is the Yankees, the other a team he had a short but very successful run with recently.
