MLB Rumors: Yankees Searching Trade Market For ANOTHER Position
With DJ LeMahieu sidelined due to a calf injury and Oswald Peraza struggling both in spring training and throughout his brief major league stints, the Yankees are browsing external options. Cabrera, while versatile, has struggled significantly against left-handed pitching, batting just .159 last season with no home runs.
General manager Brian Cashman is looking for a more stable solution, and Baltimore Orioles infielder Ramón Urías has emerged as a potential trade target. “With two years of team control remaining, he could be a solid addition,” Empire Sports Media’s Alexander Wilson wrote.

Urías, 30, posted an .837 OPS against lefties last season, making him an ideal complement to Cabrera. The Yankees have also been linked to bigger names, including St. Louis Cardinals star Nolan Arenado, though there has been little indication of serious trade discussions.
According to The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty, the Yankees are “especially motivated to upgrade at third base” and will consider various options before Opening Day.
If no trade materializes, they may be forced to roll with Peraza, who is out of minor league options and would have to be designated for assignment if removed from the roster.

Beyond third base, the Yankees are also monitoring young talent within their system, including minor-league catcher Rafael Flores, whom manager Aaron Boone has praised.
“Rafa, I think, is going to be a really good catcher in this league for a long time,” Boone said. However, the team’s more pressing concern remains solidifying the infield before the season opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.
If the Yankees don’t add reinforcements, they will rely on Cabrera and Peraza until LeMahieu returns, hoping their internal options can handle the position.
