Diamondbacks Sign World Series-Winning Pitcher

The Arizona Diamondbacks have bolstered their bullpen by signing right-handed reliever J.P. Feyereisen to a two-year contract.

Feyereisen, 31, missed the 2023 season following shoulder surgery but returned last year with the Tampa Bay Rays, posting a 2.98 ERA in limited action.

Arizona sees him as a piece to potentially strengthen their late-game options, especially with uncertainty surrounding closer Paul Sewald’s long-term future.

The team had been linked to several bullpen arms, including Tanner Scott and Ryan Helsley, but opted for free agency and Feyereisen’s mix of experience and potential.

General manager Mike Hazen praised the signing, stating, “We believe J.P. brings the right combination of command and stuff to be a difference-maker in our bullpen.” The Diamondbacks are expected to remain active in free agency, with an eye on additional pitching depth.

Arizona’s bullpen struggled with consistency last season, and Feyereisen provides a steady presence. He holds a 2.95 ERA across 100.2 innings and four seasons in his MLB career.

With a competitive NL West shaping up, the Diamondbacks’ ability to solidify their pitching staff may determine their playoff hopes. “We know how important a strong bullpen is in October,” Hazen added. “This is another step toward that goal.”
