Breaking: Free Agent Jose Iglesias Finally Lands Contract for 2025
After an inspirational season for the New York Mets, veteran infielder Jose Iglesias was strangely left out twisting in the free agent winds until now, with spring training going full tilt. But he has finally landed himself a contract for 2025, signing a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres with an invite to spring training.

Iglesias gets $3 million if he's on their major league roster, plus $1M in incentives.
The 35-year-old veteran certainly made a big impact in his one year with the NY Mets, batting .337 with a .381 on-base percentage, an .830 OPS and a 137 OPS+, while getting 270 at-bats.
Even more important, perhaps, his OMG song became the Mets' rallying cry in their push into the playoffs in 2024.

The shortstop has a .283 lifetime average through 12 major league seasons, with an All-Star appearance back in 2015. He's suited up for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels, and Baltimore Orioles in addition to the Mets and now Padres.
