Atlanta Braves Re-Acquire Pitcher for SIXTH Stint With the Team
These two just can't stay away from each other. For the sixth time in his major league career, now 41-year-old Jesse Chavez has returned to the Atlanta Braves... Again.
Jesse Chavez is back with the Braves for a 6th time. Not sure what the official record is but Chavez ties Billy Martin’s Yankees record (1 times a player, 5 times a manager), but with considerably less fanfare and fewer headlines

It's a minor league deal for the veteran right-hander, who will be going into his 18th big league season, if he makes it back up to Braves bullpen.
Chavez was released by the Texas Rangers on Friday, and now for the second consecutive season, he has joined the Braves at the end of Spring Training after being released by another club.
Brian Snitker on Jesse Chavez returning to #Braves yet again on minor league deal: "I told somebody, I think in February, I said, don't be surprised if Jesse doesn't show up again the end of March. Here he is."

Chavez will pitch in today's game vs. O's, last game for ATL in FLA.
He had a pretty good season for a 40-year-old last year, posting a 1.32 ERA over his first 26 appearances for the Braves through the end of June. He came down to earth a bit the rest of the way, but still finished with a 3.13 ERA in 63 innings.
His first stint with Atlanta came back in 2010, then not again until 2021, which was followed by several other re-acquisitions. On and off the team in the last four years, Chavez has compiled a 2.48 ERA over 152 innings with the Braves over that span.
After the '21 season, he signed with the Chicago Cubs in spring training of 2022 but was traded back to Atlanta during the season's first month. At the trade deadline, however, the Braves traded him to the Los Angeles Angels. But Chavez was back in Atlanta just a month later after the Angels put him on waivers and the Braves claimed him.
His 5th time coming back to the Braves was when the Chicago White Sox released him last spring training, and he signed a minor league deal with Atlanta. Almost the exact same scenario this time around.
