SIGNING: 3rd in MLB in Saves in '24, Kyle Finnegan Signs New Free Agent Deal
It took a while, but Kyle Finnegan, who finished third in the major leagues in saves in 2024, has finally signed a free agent deal, and he goes back to the team that non-tendered him after the season, the Washington Nationals.

It's a one-year deal worth $6 million for the 33-year-old closer, who racked up 38 saves last season for the Nats, while earning his first All-Star berth.
Despite the high saves total, Finnegan had a middling 60:24 K/BB ratio over 63.2 innings and a so-so 3.68 ERA.
After earning $5.1M last season, he was projected for an $8.6 million salary in arbitration for 2025, leading to the Nats non-tendering him ahead of his last year of arb eligibility. Turns out to have been a good decision, as Finnegan was apparently not able to land anything better on the free agent market and now, four months later, the two sides get back together, and the Nats save themselve more than a couple of million bucks.
He's spent his entire five-year career in Washington, recording 88 saves in all, with a 3.56 ERA and 8.9 K/9.
The Nats also signed Jorge Lopez and Lucas Sims to one-year deals this offseason to help bolster their bullpen this season (or to use as trade chips at the July deadline if they don't find themselves in the playoff race.)
