MLB Trade Rumors: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Linked To New Team
Guerrero, set to become a free agent after the 2025 season, could command a contract worth between $400-600 million, and Toronto may consider moving him if they fall out of contention.
Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer sees Seattle as a strong fit, noting their need for a middle-of-the-order bat alongside the Texas Rangers, New York Mets, and San Francisco Giants.
“Even a middling contender could put its eye on the World Series with him aboard for October,” Rymer wrote. The Mariners have a dominant pitching staff but remain inconsistent offensively, even after adding Randy Arozarena this past offseason.

A trade for Guerrero would come at a steep price, as the Blue Jays would likely demand a top young pitcher like Bryan Woo or Bryce Miller.
Seattle has the rotation depth to make a deal, but their front office has historically been cautious about trading controllable arms for short-term help.
"Seattle can afford to swap a pitcher for an elite bat, but if Guerrero leaves in the offseason, the M’s will have sacrificed five-plus years of productive pitching for a single campaign," Christopher Kline of FanSided noted.
The Mariners also rarely spend big on hitters, making it unlikely they would offer Guerrero the long-term contract he is expected to seek in free agency.

He is going to be an MVP candidate this summer, and will almost certainly be in a different uniform in 2026.

Despite those challenges, oddsmakers at Bovada have given the Mariners strong odds (+650) to land Guerrero, ranking them fourth behind the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and New York Yankees.
Some believe Seattle may pursue a more affordable option, such as Boston’s Triston Casas, instead of making an all-in move for Guerrero.
However, if the Mariners believe they are one impact bat away from making a deep playoff run, they could take the risk and swing a blockbuster deal.
