Frightening Video: Dodgers' Bobby Miller Nailed in Head with 106 MPH Line Drive

We had baseball action today for the first time as spring training games kicked off on a few fronts. But after a rough sophomore season last year, this is not the way that Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller wanted to start his 2025 spring training.

After throwing just 11 pitches, a frightening scene, as Miller was struck flush in the head by a 106 mph line drive off the bat of Michael Busch.

The ball hit Miller's head so hard, it ricocheted all the way into right field. He immediately grabbed his head and hit the dirt.

Somehow, through some miracle, the 25-year-old right-hander was actually able to eventually walk off the field after getting to one knee for a while, stunned.

Manager Dave Roberts provided an update afterwards, clarifying that Miller will undergo concussion protocol testing.

"Certainly it was a very scary moment," Roberts said. "From what I’ve gathered he’s gonna be under concussion protocol.

"It was good to see him walk off the field," the manager added. "I don't think we're getting any X-rays right now. When I was on the mound, he didn't express any pain. I think he's going to kind of regroup, lay low."

In 2024, Miller had the distinction of having the worst season of any major league starting pitcher, posting an untenable 8.52 ERA in 13 starts. That left him ranked 170th out of 170 pitchers who threw at least 50 innings. He also had a 1.77 WHIP, while allowing opposing hitters to bat an insane .305 with a .952 OPS. Yikes.

But the Dodgers still have hope that their 2023 rookie sensation (11-4, 1.10 WHIP) will turn it around this season.

Here's hoping that he recovers quickly from this scary incident.
