Breaking: Vladimir Guerrero Says 'No Deal' With Blue Jays

The deadline was set for midnight. And Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has announced today that he and the Toronto Blue Jays were not able to come to an agreement on an extension, meaning that he will become a free agent after the season.

When asked if the Blue Jays were close in negotiations, Guerrero answered "No."

I’m here. We didn’t get an agreement. Now, they’re going to have to compete with 29 other teams.

He added that he would love to be a Blue Jay for life, and would still consider signing with them, but not if they don't out-bid every other team in baseball.

As for what kind of team he'll be looking to sign with?

“Winning team. That’s what I’ll be looking for in free agency. As you guys know, my dad played a lot of years. He never won a World Series. My personal goal is to win a World Series and give the ring to my dad."

The early favorites for signing him include the deep-pocketed New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox.
