Breaking: Kenley Jansen Signs in Surprising Location

One of the biggest names left on the free agent relief market, future Hall of Famer Kenley Jansen, has been locked up for the 2025 season. And he'll be heading back to Los Angeles. But this time, it's with the Angels.

It's a one-year, $10 million contract for the 37-year-old.

Jansen, going into his 16th MLB season, is far and away the leader among all active players in saves with 447, to go with an incredible lifetime ERA of 2.57.

Jansen spent the last two years with the Boston Red Sox, where he earned his 4th All-Star berth in 2023 and recorded 56 saves across the two seasons. The year before that, he led the league in saves with 41, pitching for the Atlanta Braves.

Previous to that, it was all L.A. for Jansen, closing for 12 years with the Dodgers, racking up 350 saves with them, a 2.37 ERA, and a World Series championship.

If he is able to secure 32 saves this season with the Angels, he'll move into 3rd all-time in that statistic, behind only Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman and Lee Smith—all of them in Cooperstown.

He'll be a tremendous mentor in Anaheim to the 24-year-old closer in waiting Ben Joyce, he of the triple-digit radar readings.
