Realmuto, one of the game's premier catchers, is set to hit free agency after the 2025 season.
Owens believes Toronto could make a strong push, even if it means reducing fan-favorite Alejandro Kirk’s role. “Realmuto’s leadership at a position that is hard to come by would be hard to pass up,” he writes.
Alonso, meanwhile, holds an opt-out in his two-year deal with the New York Mets and could be a logical fit at first base if Guerrero departs.
“Quite frankly, the deal between the Mets and Alonso felt forced,” Owens notes, suggesting the slugger might seek a bigger payday elsewhere.

Bregman, currently with the Boston Red Sox on a short-term contract, has opt-outs that could make him available again, giving the Blue Jays another power bat to consider.
Toronto’s financial flexibility without Guerrero would allow them to pursue at least one of these stars or spread the money across multiple players.
