Top 10 Remaining MLB Free Agents Just A Month From Spring Training

As we quickly approach spring training—just a month away—teams are working on making their final roster adjustments for the 2025 season. And there's no shortage of talent still available on the free agent market.

Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki is causing the biggest stir these days, and has narrowed his list down to three teams, but he isn't an MLB free agent, but rather an "international" one who won't bring in the big money like many of the following.

We present here the Top 10 Remaining MLB Free Agents:

  1. Alex Bregman
  2. Pete Alonso
  3. Anthony Santander
  4. Jack Flaherty
  5. Tanner Scott
  6. Carlos Estevez
  7. Nick Pivetta
  8. Ha-Seong Kim
  9. Max Scherzer
  10. Jurickson Profar
You can quibble with the order of some of the above, but these are the names that can truly have an impact on a team for 2025. With a trio of very strong bats, a couple of solid starters, two elite relievers, and a Gold Glover, there's some talent here.

Bregman is still trying to land a $200M contract, while Alonso and Santander are now likely looking at shorter-term deals, in the 3-year range.

Flaherty proved himself as a legit starter in '24 once again after years of injury troubles, but his continued unemployment could mean that teams would like to see him do it again before they commit long-term. He, too, might have to take a shorter deal with an opt-out.

Scott and Estevez are two solid bullpen arms that would shore up any contender's 'pen, while Kim would add a Gold Glove in the middle of the infield for interested teams (though he might not be ready for the first month of the season).

Scherzer has three Cy Youngs in his past (distant past), but at age 40, injuries have caught up to him the last couple of seasons.

Honorable mentions would include relievers like Tommy Kahnle, Kenley Jansen and Jose Leclerc, and some position players who have seen better days but could still contribute like Harrison Bader, Mark Canha and Justin Turner.
