Report: 5 Teams Still In On Free Agent Slugger Anthony Santander

There is one big free agent outfielder still out there on the market in Anthony Santander. And there are a number of teams who are still looking for some outfield help as spring training creeps ever closer.

According to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, there are still five teams in on former Baltimore Orioles slugger Santander:

Toronto Blue Jays

If there's any team that could use the all-offense, not-much-defense Santander, it's this one. For a team that is currently all defense and not much offense, he'd be the perfect fit. The Jays have struck out on all the big names they've tried to woo this offseason, and are in dire need of some offensive punch for a team that finished 26th in baseball in home runs last season, 23rd in RBIs, and 20th in slugging.

Boston Red Sox

Another team that's looking for another impact bat for the middle of their order, and with openings in the outfield.

New York Mets

If they're truly not planning to re-sign Pete Alonso, the Mets will be short about 40 home runs in their lineup, and after adding Juan Soto, it would be taking a step back to not replenish that Alonso power supply with someone like Santander.

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers finished 24th in HRs in 2024, and 23rd in OPS. They're looking to spend some money this winter to beef up their offense. They've been linked to free agent Alex Bregman as well.

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels could use... well, plenty of everything. Sticking a big bat like Santander in the lineup next to Mike Trout would be a huge improvement.
