MLB Trade Rumors: 3 Starting Pitchers Linked To Padres

The San Diego Padres are looking to rebound after missing out on Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki, and Fansided's Joseph Kallan thinks there are three starting pitchers they should pursue to bolster their rotation.

Kallan suggests Marcus Stroman, Eduardo Rodríguez, and Sonny Gray as viable alternatives.

Stroman, a proven ground-ball specialist, could provide the consistency and durability the Padres need at the top of their rotation.

Meanwhile, Rodríguez is coming off a strong season with the Detroit Tigers, where he posted a 3.35 ERA, and would add a left-handed presence to the staff.

Gray, a veteran with postseason experience, is coming off a solid season where he recorded a 3.84 ERA across 28 starts.

“Any of these pitchers could seamlessly slot into San Diego’s rotation and give them a chance to contend in a competitive NL West,” Kallan writes, noting the importance of adding proven arms after a disappointing 2024 season.

While the Padres missed out on Sasaki’s tantalizing potential, their need for an immediate solution makes these three pitchers solid options.
