MLB Rumors: Yankees Linked To All-Star Infielder
Perdomo, a 2023 All-Star, brings a combination of defensive versatility and offensive promise that could fill the Yankees’ vacancy at second base while offering additional options at third base and shortstop.
In an injury-shortened 2024 season, Perdomo posted a .273/.344/.374 slash line over 337 at-bats, with an ability to get on base and contribute consistently, even if his power numbers remain modest.

Mountz argues that Perdomo’s disciplined approach at the plate and switch-hitting ability would make him a strong addition to the Yankees’ lineup, particularly after the team’s loss of Juan Soto to the New York Mets.
“His pure-hitting ability and plate discipline will do well to complement the Yankee lineup,” he writes, noting that Perdomo’s high contact rate, low strikeout numbers, and solid base-stealing ability—34 steals in 41 career attempts—fit seamlessly into a team built around speed and adaptability.
Yankee Stadium’s dimensions could also help Perdomo improve his home run total, adding another layer of value to his game.

With Arizona’s top prospect Jordan Lawlar poised to take over at shortstop, the Diamondbacks may be open to trading Perdomo, who is under club control through 2027 and has a team-friendly $2.55 million salary.
Mountz writes that acquiring Perdomo would allow the Yankees to fill a critical infield need without breaking the bank or surrendering major assets.
