MLB Rumors: Orioles & Mariners Talking Big Trade
The Orioles, eager to bolster their rotation after losing ace Corbin Burnes in free agency, view Castillo as an ideal target. A three-time All-Star, Castillo has been a cornerstone for the Mariners since 2022, posting a career 3.43 ERA.
His $72 million contract through 2027 and no-trade clause present hurdles, but Baltimore is reportedly willing to explore a deal that could bring them a top-tier arm to anchor their staff in the competitive AL East.

The Mariners, who had a league-leading ERA in 2024, are open to moving Castillo if it helps address their offensive struggles.
Seattle’s lineup ranked near the bottom of MLB in runs scored and batting average last season, prompting interest in controllable bats like Baltimore’s Jordan Westburg or Ryan Mountcastle.
Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto has also fielded calls from other teams, including the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets, but Baltimore’s deep pool of young hitters and prospects like Coby Mayo could give them an edge.
"There’s no doubt Castillo would be a strong fit for the Orioles," Morosi said, noting the team’s urgency to find a high-caliber replacement for Burnes.

For Baltimore, Castillo brings a rare combination of durability and dominance, making him a coveted asset in their pursuit of the AL East crown.
The Orioles’ current rotation, featuring Grayson Rodriguez, Dean Kremer, and newcomers Charlie Morton and Tomoyuki Sugano, would benefit significantly from Castillo’s presence.
Meanwhile, the Mariners face a tough decision as they weigh Castillo’s value as an ace against the potential to reshape their offense and free up payroll.
