MLB Rumors: One Team "All-In" On Alex Bregman
After reaching the postseason for the first time in a decade with an 86-win season, the Tigers view Bregman as the perfect addition to their emerging core.
Poessessing power and consistency, the two-time All-Star hit 26 home runs and drove in 75 runs last season, and his championship pedigree aligns perfectly with Detroit’s aspirations. According to the Detroit Free Press, the team is fully committed to pursuing Bregman, with one source describing their interest as unwavering.
The Tigers have varying levels of interest in Alex Bregman, Anthony Santander, Jack Flaherty, and Roki Sasaki.

It’s nice to be back in these conversations.
Contract talks remain a challenge, as Bregman is reportedly seeking a seven-year deal worth more than $200 million—terms the Tigers are hesitant to meet.
Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic noted, “The Tigers definitely like Alex Bregman, and Alex Bregman has some interest in the Tigers, but... I don’t think they’re looking for a seven-year deal or willing to go up to $200 million.”
Detroit is carefully working through a competitive market that also includes the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, hoping Bregman’s asking price might come down as spring training approaches.
A shorter deal or creative structure with opt-outs could keep Detroit in play while balancing financial risks.
It’s a great day for the Detroit Tigers to sign Alex Bregman.

Adding Bregman would address a huge need at third base while providing leadership and experience to a young roster poised for further postseason success.
If the Tigers can close the gap in negotiations, Bregman could be the transformational player they need to help make a deep playoff push in 2025.
