Breaking: Jurickson Profar Signs Free Agent Deal With NL Contender

One of the last remaining notable bats on the free agent market, Jurickson Profar, has signed a deal for the 2025 season, electing to cash in on his career season by signing with the Atlanta Braves.

The deal is for 3 years and $42 million, a huge jackpot for Profar, who, in his walk year in 2024, set 11-year career highs across the board in every statistical category with San Diego. He has parlayed that into a huge new contract.

After signing a cheap one-year, $1 million deal with the Padres last winter, Profar went out and blasted 24 homers with 85 RBIs, 94 runs, a .280 average, an .839 OPS and a 134 OPS+. Each and every one of those marks was a career high well over a decade into his career. Heck, he even led the majors in Hit By Pitches, with 18.

Can the switch-hitter come anywhere close to repeating that magical year at the age of 32? Doubtful, but the Braves will take a reasonable facsimile, at least.

With an .885 OPS and a .300 average, Profar fared even better as a right-handed batter, which would make him a nice platoon partner for the lefty-swinging Jarred Kelenic in left field for the Braves.
