Another Free Agent is Off The Board, As Michael Lorenzen Signs for 2025
Michael Lorenzen has had his moments in the major leagues, including a no-hitter in only his second start with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2023.
Down the stretch with the Kansas City Royals in 2024, in six starts, he was once again practically unhittable, posting a 1.57 ERA while holding opponents to a .183 batting average.
Despite all this, he was pretty much a forgotten man on the free agent market. But not by the Royals, who were the benefactors of that red-hot stretch last season. They have stepped up and signed the 33-year-old veteran to a one-year deal.
Right-hander Michael Lorenzen and the Kansas City Royals are in agreement on a one-year, $7 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Lorenzen, 33, was excellent down the stretch, and the deal includes a second-year mutual option for $12 million. Versatile arm, great clubhouse guy.
