Report: White Sox Set Asking Price For Luis Robert Jr.
According to reports from The Athletic, rival teams have expressed frustration with the White Sox’s demands, with one executive commenting, “I don’t think they understand what his value is.”
Despite these critiques, the White Sox refuse to trade Robert for anything less than a significant return. Acknowledging their dismal 41-121 season, the organization views Robert’s trade as a critical step in reshaping their future and is willing to hold onto him if the market fails to meet their expectations.

Robert, 27, has shown flashes of brilliance, including a breakout 2023 season where he hit 38 home runs and finished 12th in AL MVP voting.
However, his 2024 campaign was marred by injuries and inconsistency, ending with a .224 batting average, .657 OPS, and just 14 home runs in 100 games.
His durability is a concern, as he has played more than 100 games in only one of the past four seasons. Yet, his elite athleticism and team-friendly contract—which guarantees $15 million in 2025 with $20 million club options for 2026 and 2027—make him an attractive option in a market with few quality center fielders.
As one anonymous general manager noted, “The guy is certainly intriguing, but you’ve got to hope he finally stays healthy.”
Chris Getz’s thought process is absolutely spot on with this.

Either you trade Luis Robert Jr. for something meaningful or you keep him. Do not trade him just to trade him. pic.twitter.com/Cz0cDf7bIY
In addition to Robert, the White Sox are placing a premium on left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet, although their preference is to trade Robert first, per USA Today.
With both players representing key assets for a team in rebuild mode, the White Sox are adamant about maximizing their returns.
“We’re not moving him for mid-tier prospects,” a team source said regarding Robert.
