MLB Trade Rumors: 4 Teams in Pursuit of Astros' Kyle Tucker

The Kyle Tucker rumors are ramping up around baseball, as the Houston Astros' young superstar outfielder is shockingly being made available to the right offer.

The New York Yankees are said to be one of the prime suitors in the Tucker Sweepstakes.

Joel Sherman reports that the Bronx Bombers are "seriously pursuing" Tucker, after their failed attempt to re-sign their own superstar OF Juan Soto. The Astros are said to be "very interested" in New York's AL Rookie of the Year, pitcher Luis Gil, as part of a return.

But the Yankees aren't the only ones on the Tucker train. Sherman says three other teams are involved:

The Chicago Cubs, who he calls a "strong player" for Tucker, the San Francisco Giants, who could continue to boost their offense after signing Willy Adames, and the Philadelphia Phillies, who Sherman calls another "inquiring" team.

Tucker lost over half of his 2024 season to injury, but when he played, he dominated. The soon-to-be 28-year-old had an OPS of .993 in his 78 games, even better than Soto. He won a Gold Glove in 2022, and finished fifth for AL MVP in 2023 with 29 HR, an AL-best 112 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases for the five-tool talent. He's a three-time All-Star.

The problem for the Astros is that he'll be a free agent after next season, and with his projected price tag now soaring to the $300M-$400M range after Soto's deal, Houston is unlikely to be able to afford to keep him.
