Landing Spots for Top 6 Free Agents Predicted by Former 3x All-Star

Blake Snell is signed. But he is the only one of the top names in free agency this winter that have chosen their new team for 2025.

Former three-time major league All-Star Dan Plesac, now with MLB Network, has projected where he thinks the top six remaining free agents — all All-Stars in their own right, will land once the dust settles.

Juan Soto: New York Mets

Plesac sees superstar Soto moving crosstown, leaving the New York Yankees and breaking hearts in the Bronx, for the wads of cash thrown at him by Mets owner Steve Cohen in Queens.

Corbin Burnes: Baltimore Orioles

It would take the type of free agent expenditure that the Orioles have never made before, but if they're serious about taking the next step to championship contention, the O's will abide by Plesac's projection and re-sign their ace to the $200 million or so contract he'll be commanding.

Alex Bregman: Houston Astros

Likewise, Plesac sees the Astros hanging on to their longtime slugger at the hot corner, re-signing Bregman to a contract that, we suggest, will likely be a little out of their comfort zone as well.

Max Fried: Baltimore Orioles

Here's where things would get completely shocking, as Plesac sees the Orioles doubling down on their World Series aspirations by handing out their second biggest free agent contract ever, adding another ace to their rotation.

Anthony Santander: Seattle Mariners

Here's a team that is starved for offense, and the Mariners need to spend big to boost that part of their lineup. Santander going to the Pacific Northwest is a definite fit that makes sense.

Roki Sasaki: Chicago Cubs

Not officially a major league All-Star as of yet, Sasaki should be an ace in the big leagues for years to come. He burst onto the radar in Japan in 2022 as a 20-year-old, with a 19-strikeout perfect game.
The 23-year-old has also earned the pitching Triple Crown the past two seasons in the NPB.
The Cubs need to improve their rotation big-time, and there's no bigger big-time arm than this. Perhaps outfielder and countryman Seiya Suzuki can help convince Sasaki to sign in the Windy City.
