Juan Soto Is About To Land $700M+ Record-Setting Deal
It sounds like the historic Juan Soto Sweepstakes could be coming to a record-breaking conclusion within days, according to baseball insider Jon Heyman. He says that both New York clubs have gone into record-setting territory, surpassing the $700 million mark, which was the unprecedented number that Shohei Ohtani set last offseason.
The Yankees and Mets both remain heavily involved in the five-team Juan Soto Derby, with both clubs recently upping offers into the $710 million-$730 million range — MLB record territory — as it’s believed the sweepstakes could be within a day or two of an historic conclusion.
While the Yankees can boast the unparalleled lineup protection for Soto of Aaron Judge, the Mets are said to have impressed Soto with their stunning run to reach the NLCS in 2024.
The Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays are also among the five finalists that Soto is weighing offers from.
With the Winter Meetings kicking off on Monday, a decision could be coming at any moment, and the domino effect on free agents around the league could unleash a hurricane of signings.
