Breaking: Willy Adames Signs Huge Free Agent Deal to Head West
The biggest offensive bat in the free agent pool outside of Juan Soto, former Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames has chosen his new home for the next seven years, signing a 7-yr, $182 million contract with the San Francisco Giants.
BREAKING: Shortstop Willy Adames and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a seven-year, $182 million contract, the largest deal in franchise history, sources tell ESPN. Adames, 29, had a career-best 32 home runs and 112 RBIs in 2024. The deal is pending a physical.

It's the largest contract the Giants have handed out in franchise history. The 29-year-old was the Giants' top target all along this winter, says insider Jeff Passan.
Adames had career-bests in 2024 with 32 home runs and 112 RBIs.
The slugging shortstop has made a reputation for himself as a "winner." He helped Tampa Bay to the postseason twice in his time there, including one World Series appearance, and helped the Brewers dominate in the NL Central this past season.
"Willy is a connector, that's No. 1," his former manager in Milwaukee, Craig Counsell, told ESPN. "No. 2, he has an infectious personality. Those two points are related. They draw people to him. Players, fans, coaching staffs. There aren't many players that have it."
The Giants have tried to make a huge free agent splash in each of the last several offseasons, but failed. This time, they finally get their man.
With that, one of the biggest post-Soto 'Plan B' dominoes has fallen. Several of the Soto finalists had planned to pivot to trying to land Adames if they failed to get Soto, but those plans will now have to change.
