BREAKING: Walker Buehler Decides Next Playing Destination
The Boston Red Sox have signed free-agent right-hander Walker Buehler to a one-year, $21.05 million deal, pending a physical.
The contract matches the qualifying offer value and includes incentives that could increase its total payout. A two-time All-Star and World Series champion, Buehler brings playoff experience and a reputation for performing in high-pressure moments.
"Walker has shown he can perform at the highest level when it matters most," said a source close to the team, referencing his stellar outings during the Dodgers' 2024 postseason run, where he threw ten scoreless innings across the NLCS and World Series.

Buehler, 30, has faced a lot of challenges over the past two seasons, missing nearly two years due to Tommy John surgery in 2023 and struggling to regain his form in 2024, posting a 5.38 ERA in 16 starts.
However, his postseason dominance, including a crucial series-clinching save in the World Series against the Yankees, made him a coveted addition for Boston.
The Red Sox hope Buehler’s October heroics will carry into the 2025 season, as he joins a rotation bolstered by other offseason moves, including the trade for left-hander Garrett Crochet and the signing of Patrick Sandoval to a two-year deal.

The revamped rotation now features Buehler alongside Brayan Bello, Tanner Houck, Garrett Whitlock, and potentially Lucas Giolito once he returns from injury.
This signing likely signals the end of Nick Pivetta’s time in Boston, as he declined the team’s $21.05 million qualifying offer earlier this offseason.
By adding a proven postseason arm without losing draft capital, the Red Sox have addressed a critical need and positioned themselves for a competitive season with an eye on October success.
