SIGNING: Cole Irvin Makes Shocking Decision on His New Team
He was a relied-upon member of the Oakland A's rotation for a couple of seasons, but Cole Irvin, now 30, just struggled through two pretty unproductive years and has apparently been getting the message that he would not be able to land a major league contract in free agency this winter.
With that, Irvin has decided to sign for 2025 with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). It's a one-year deal worth $1 million.

Irvin averaged 31 starts and 180 innings through the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Athletics, then landed with the Baltimore Orioles for 2023 and most of 2024 where he served as a part-time starter/part-time reliever. His 4.86 ERA through 25 appearances this past season led the O's to designate Irvin for assignment, whereafter the Minnesota Twins picked him up and gave him a shot late in the season, but he struggled mightily in just 3 2/3 innings.
We'll see if Irvin can use this opportunity in Korea to get his game back to where it was with Oakland just a few years back.
