MLB Trade Rumors: White Sox Reveal Asking Price For Garrett Crochet

The Chicago White Sox have clarified their asking price for star pitcher Garrett Crochet, with GM Chris Getz confirming the team’s focus on acquiring high-end position players to boost their offense.

"We are focusing on position player return. That is our primary focus in any trade talks. We certainly need to improve our offense," Getz stated in an interview, noting the urgency to add impactful bats after a 121-loss season marked by the league's lowest run production.

This shift in strategy follows Crochet's breakout 2024 season, in which he struck out 209 batters over 146 innings with a 3.58 ERA, solidifying himself as one of the league’s most valuable left-handers.

Crochet’s affordability — projected at $2.9 million in arbitration — have made him a highly sought-after trade target, with teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets expressing strong interest.

The Dodgers and Red Sox are reportedly the most aggressive suitors, as each possesses the kind of young, controllable hitters that could meet the White Sox’s demands.

The Phillies and Mets remain in the mix, although their hesitance to part with top prospects like Aiden Miller and Jett Williams could limit negotiations. A deal was nearly struck at the trade deadline, but Crochet's preference for an extension before postseason play delayed any final agreements.

With two years of team control remaining, Crochet is a valuable asset in reshaping Chicago’s roster as they focus on building a lineup capable of contending in the future.

The White Sox aim to close a deal by the Winter Meetings if the right position-player package is offered.
