MLB Trade Rumors: 2 Notable Teams Interested in Free Agent Nate Eovaldi

While so much of the focus on the free agent pitching market is centered around Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Roki Sasaki and the newly-LA-bound Blake Snell, there is still another notable name out there—a two-time World Series champion, at that.

Nathan Eovaldi posted a sub-4.00 ERA for the fifth straight season, and wrapped up his two years with the Texas Rangers with a 24-13 mark, a 3.72 ERA and his second All-Star berth and World Series ring. Two teams have been noted to be among those with serious interest in him, according to insider Jon Morosi.

Baltimore Orioles

The O's are in their window of opportunity to compete for a World Series right now, and need to maintain a top-notch pitching staff to go with their outstanding cache of young position players. They might very well lose their ace Corbin Burnes unless they're willing to spend the kind of money they've never shown the affinity to spend. Adding a more financially responsible Eovaldi, who knows what it takes in the playoffs, would be a great add for them.

Atlanta Braves

They could very well be losing two key members of their starting rotation from recent years, with Max Fried and Charlie Morton now free agents. If they aren't able to retain one or both of them, Eovaldi would be a nice replacement. With his playoff acumen—9-3 record, 3.05 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 82:18 K/BB ratio—he fits right into where the Braves see themselves: World Series or bust.

Many pundits also feel that two of his recent teams, the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox, will also be in the mix for Eovaldi. Going into his age-35 season, he's expected to command a two or three-year deal worth about $20 million per.
