MLB Rumors: Nolan Arenado Linked To New Team
The more I think about a Nolan Arenado to the Red Sox trade, the more I get it. Kill 4 birds with one stone type deal, as they say. Huge upgrade on defense, Devers moves to DH, Yoshida could be gone to make it all work, and it gets another righty in your lineup. Don't hate it.

Arenado, who hit .272 with 16 home runs and 71 RBIs in 2024, had a slightly down year offensively but remains an elite defender and a valuable veteran presence.
The Cardinals are reportedly open to trading him as part of their retooling efforts, particularly if a team is willing to absorb most of the remaining money on his contract.
With a deep farm system rich in pitching prospects—assets the Cardinals covet—the Red Sox could craft a competitive trade package.
However, Arenado’s full no-trade clause could complicate matters, as he would need to approve any potential deal. Adding intrigue is the involvement of Chaim Bloom, a former Red Sox executive now in the Cardinals’ front office, which could help facilitate discussions.

While Boston could also pursue free agents like Alex Bregman, Arenado offers a more defensively reliable and potentially cost-effective option.
His addition would allow the Red Sox to strengthen their lineup and improve infield defense, addressing key weaknesses from their 81-81 season.
If the trade logistics and Arenado’s willingness to waive his no-trade clause align, the Red Sox could take a significant step toward contention in 2025 by landing one of the game’s premier defenders.
