MLB Free Agent Rumors: 2 AL East Teams Targeting Teoscar Hernandez

The Toronto Blue Jays traded Teoscar Hernandez in an ill-fated attempt to boost their 'run prevention' after the 2022 campaign. They've been lamenting that move (or at least, the fans have) ever since. He's now gone on to win a World Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and is one of the top bats in free agency this winter.

According to MLB Insider Jon Morosi, Teo is being courted by two AL East teams—but sorry Jays fans, neither one of them is located north of the border.

Per Morosi, the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles are among the teams showing interest in the slugging outfielder. He notes that both those clubs are searching for right-handed power this offseason.

Morosi adds that there are other teams involved, but he didn't specify which ones. It remains to be seen if the Blue Jays, who are in need of more offense, try to woo him back.

It's believed that Toronto did make an offer to Hernandez when he was a free agent last winter, but he chose (correctly) to sign a one-year, $23.5 million deal with the Dodgers, and went and got himself a ring.

Along the way, he had himself a tremendous season, posting an OPS+ of 141, while launching 33 homers with 99 RBIs for the Dodgers and batting .272. He also batted .350 in the World Series with .931 OPS and 4 RBIs in the 5 games. He's in line for a big multi-year deal, even at the age of 32. He has already indicated that he would like to come back to LA.
