Blue Jays Send Guerrero Jr. to the Cubs In This Insane Blockbuster Proposal

So should the Toronto Blue Jays try to sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a massive $300 million + contract extension, or trade him this winter?

Opinions have been coming in from all over the baseball world about what the Jays should or will do. But the following offering from the good folks at MLB Network is just about the most insane proposal yet.

We're not sure who came up with this offer, but we can be certain it was not a Blue Jays supporter. The offer would see Toronto's franchise player and best starting pitcher head to Chicago in return for Cody Bellinger (who the Cubs are trying to unload on anybody that will have him), Michael Busch, who batted .248 with 21 HR and 65 RBIs in his rookie season, and a pitching prospect (Cade Horton, #3 on the Cubs' prospect list).

To be clear, Guerrero is coming off a season that saw him bat .323 with a .940 OPS, 30 HR, 103 RBIs and a 166 OPS+. He is the franchise player.

Gausman didn't have his best season with the Jays, but he still managed to go 14-11 for a dreadful team that was 14 games under .500, along with a 3.83 ERA. He's only one year removed from a Top 3 finish in Cy Young balloting.

This proposed offer, as you might expect, did not meet with very enthusiastic responses from north of the border:

Of course, with the confidence level in Toronto GM Ross Atkins to do the right thing at rock bottom among Jays Nation, some wouldn't be surprised to see him give this serious consideration.

In the meantime, on this Thanksgiving Day, let's just all call this one a turkey  of an offer.
