World Series Winning Pitcher Interested In Being Marlins Next Manager
Sanchez, a 16-year veteran who debuted with the Marlins in 2006, reached out to the organization to convey his desire to lead the team.
While he has no formal coaching or managerial experience, Sanchez's deep ties to the Marlins and his long, successful career make him an intriguing candidate.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Sanchez told the Marlins, "I’d love to take the next step and give back to the game."

Sanchez’s playing career includes memorable highlights like a no-hitter with the Marlins in 2006 and leading the MLB with a 2.57 ERA in 2013 while with the Detroit Tigers.
He also played a key role in the Washington Nationals' 2019 World Series run. Despite lacking managerial experience, Sanchez has made it clear that he is passionate about returning to baseball in a leadership capacity.
"I’ve been through it all as a player," he said, "and I think I can bring a lot to a team looking for leadership." His potential candidacy draws comparisons to former players like David Ross, who transitioned into managerial roles shortly after retiring.
The Marlins, under the direction of new president of baseball operations Peter Bendix, are in the process of overhauling their coaching staff, making this a important moment for the organization.
While it remains uncertain whether Sanchez will seriously contend for the role, his connection to the Marlins and his passion for the game could make him an option as the team searches for a new voice in the dugout.
Bendix is reportedly open to considering a wide range of candidates, including those with organizational ties like Sanchez.
