Red Sox Rumors: 3 Free Agents For Boston Red Sox to Pursue

The Boston Red Sox head into the offseason with the goal of making some moves to potentially find an ace, and to better balance their lineup.

The Red Sox have a ton of questions to deal with, and with that in mind, we take a look at three prime free agents this winter that would make sense for the BoSox to pursue.

Corbin Burnes

The Baltimore Orioles (and former Milwaukee Brewers) ace had another elite season—his fifth in a row. He won a Cy Young in 2021, has topped the 200-strikeout plateau three times, and has had an ERA that begins with a "2" (like this year's 2.92) in four of those five seasons. He's also started at least 32 games the past three years. He is the definition of an ace. But he will be costly. How high are these Red Sox willing to go?

Teoscar Hernandez

If Tyler O'Neill takes his 31 home runs and walks as a free agent, the LA Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez would be an ideal thumper to put in the middle of the Red Sox order and in the outfield.

Willy Adames

Is Trevor Story able to stay healthy? He's only been able to play 163 games—TOTAL—in his three seasons in Boston. Is Vaughn Grissom able to finally figure it out in the big leagues? If the answer to both of those questions is "Hmm.. not sure," then the slugging Adames would be another huge bat the Red Sox could look to add at shortstop.
