MLB Rumors: Top Trade Destination Named for Garrett Crochet This Winter

Will the Chicago White Sox trade Garrett Crochet this winter? Did the White Sox set a modern-day baseball record as the losingest team in history? Yes is the answer to both of those questions.

Crochet had a spectacular breakthrough season in his first year as a starting pitcher for the Pale Hose, but their chances of trading him at the deadline as part of their fire sale fell apart after Crochet came out and announced that he wouldn't pitch in the playoffs for any team that acquired him without a new long-term extension. The White Sox weren't too thrilled with that, to say the least.

The 25-year-old has yet to hit the jackpot in earnings in the majors, as he's still under team control for two more years.

After an All-Star season that saw him post a 3.58 ERA with 12.9 strikeouts per nine innings in his first full year, Crochet will be able to bring back a haul for the South Siders.

According to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, "The Baltimore Orioles still feel like the top candidate to trade for Crochet, especially if they end up failing to re-sign Corbin Burnes."

This makes a ton of sense, as Burnes hits the free agent market where he'll be in line for a massive deal that could approach $200 million. That is not in the comfort zone of the Orioles.

But a trade for Crochet, with some of their voluminous stack of prospects, would be a much more organizationally sensible way for the O's to fill that void of one of their top-of-the-rotation spots.
