MLB Rumors: Offseason Prediction Has White Sox Trading Two Star Players

In an early offseason prediction, Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report foresees the Chicago White Sox making some big moves by trading two of their star players, Garrett Crochet and Luis Robert Jr., as part of their rebuilding efforts. 

Crochet, who missed the 2022 season due to Tommy John surgery, made 32 starts in 2024 but was limited to shorter outings, never pitching beyond the fourth inning after June 30. 

Despite this, his impressive strikeout numbers (14.9 K/9 over his final eight starts) and two years of arbitration eligibility make him a valuable trade asset. 

Miller suggests Crochet's trade is "almost a sure thing," with teams like the Baltimore Orioles seen as top candidates, particularly if they fail to re-sign Corbin Burnes.

Luis Robert Jr. is another player who could be on the move, though his trade is less certain. 

After a disappointing 2024 season where his OPS dropped to .657—200 points below his 2023 mark—Robert's trade value has diminished, but his athleticism and upside still make him an attractive option for teams looking to take a chance on a rebound. 

With $15 million owed in 2025 and club options for 2026 and 2027, Miller believes teams could "buy low" on Robert's potential, seeing him as a player capable of bouncing back in future seasons.
