MLB Rumors: Dodgers & Braves Could Have Bidding War For Free Agent

A bidding war could erupt this offseason between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves for free-agent shortstop Willy Adames, according to Lior Lampert of Fansided.

After a career-best season with the Milwaukee Brewers, Adames is poised to be one of the top targets in free agency.

Both the Dodgers and Braves have a pressing need at shortstop, with Lampert noting that “the Dodgers presumably lead the pack,” given their aggressive spending history and connections to Adames through executives Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes, who worked with him in Tampa Bay.

While the Dodgers have a financial advantage, the Braves remain a serious contender despite potential budget constraints.

Lampert points out that Atlanta's successful season and need for a power-hitting shortstop keep them in the mix, stating, “Theoretically, Atlanta can pull it off, but L.A. is intimidating.”

This past season, the 29-year-old recorded a .251/.331/.462 triple-slash line, with 32 home runs, 112 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, and 93 runs scored across 161 games played.
