MLB Rumors: 2 Teams Linked To Jack Flaherty This Offseason

According to Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, starting pitcher Jack Flaherty could find a great fit in free agency with a reunion with the Detroit Tigers this winter.

After signing a one-year deal with Detroit in 2024, Flaherty delivered an impressive season, posting a 2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 133 strikeouts in 106.2 innings before being traded to the Dodgers at the deadline.

With the Tigers on the rise in the AL Central and looking for another reliable arm to pair with Tarik Skubal, a reunion with Flaherty would make sense.

On the other hand, Reuter flags the Cincinnati Reds, who have been mentioned in recent hypotheticals, as a poor match for Flaherty.

While the Reds could use a veteran starter to complement their young rotation, Flaherty’s high fly-ball rate (37.8%) makes him a risky option for Great American Ball Park, one of the league’s most hitter-friendly stadiums.

Combined with his past struggles in Cincinnati, where he holds a 5.23 ERA over 20.2 innings, this potential signing would likely be a less favorable outcome for both Flaherty and the Reds.
