Top 3 Outfielders in Free Agency This Offseason

Outfield—at least on the corners—is one of the more prominent positions in free agency this coming offseason, and of course it features the No. 1 free agent of all.

Let's have a look at the Top 3 outfielders up for bidding this winter.

1. Juan Soto

The superstar has been an absolute blessing for the New York Yankees this season. His pairing up with Aaron Judge gives the Pinstripers one of the greatest (the greatest?) offensive duos in baseball history. As amazing as he's been throughout his career, Soto is having one of his best seasons yet, with his first-ever 40-HR campaign, while leading the league in runs (126), and posting an OPS+ of 178, his second-best mark.

Some estimates have him raking in a contract totaling as much as $600 million. And most see the Yankees as simply not being able to afford not to give it to him.

2. Anthony Santander

It seems like at the beginning of every year this guy gets overlooked, and yet every year he delivers a rock solid season. In 2024, the Baltimore Orioles slugger is having a career year, having notched his first All-Star nod (overlooked no longer), while setting personal bests with 44 HR, 101 RBIs and a 136 OPS+. And he's doing it all in his contract year. Some estimates have him landing a multi-year deal that could approach $100 million.

3. Teoscar Hernandez

Ever since the Toronto Blue Jays let him go after the 2022 season, they've been regretting it (at least the fans, who are much more honest about it than the Toronto front office, have). The team's offence has fallen off a cliff since Teo left, and this year he's fit in like a glove with the LA Dodgers. His 31 HR and 91 RBIs with a 134 OPS+ will win him a nice contract this winter, despite his turning 32 next month.

Honorable mentions in the outfield are few and far between, however, especially if Cody Bellinger does the expected and opts into his 2025 contract with the Chicago Cubs. But Tyler O'Neill and perhaps Jurickson Profar could be considered for teams desperate for outfield help.
