Some Surprising Odds Listed For Juan Soto's Next Potential Destination

The New York Yankees have every intention of re-signing superstar Juan Soto in free agency this offseason. But with Scott Boras as his agent, we can always expect the unexpected.

IF—and Yankees fans don't want to think about this—Soto moves elsewhere in free agency, there have been a number of teams thought of as favorites to sign him. But here's what people are actually betting on, as a prop bet from BetOnline lists the top 5 teams who could land the 4-time All-Star with the 1.005 OPS.

The Philadelphia Phillies leading the pack at +500 shouldn't really surprise anybody, as they have made a habit over the years of reeling in some huge free agent fish, most notably Bryce Harper.

The Boston Red Sox sitting second in these odds? Now, that's a bit of a stunner. Contrary to the Phillies, the BoSox have not spent the money to land a big free agent in eons. This would certainly be a big turn of events, not to mention crushing Yankees fans' hearts more than any other result.

The Chicago Cubs are going to be throwing some money around this winter, it's expected, and them landing at third on this list, at +700 is not a shock.

The Toronto Blue Jays (+800) somehow managing to land Soto would be a surprising development. The team has been on the decline for the past couple of years, hasn't won a postseason game in eight years, and has a general manager in Ross Atkins that has brought nothing but embarrassment to the franchise in recent times.

Of course, they were supposedly a frontrunner in the Soto Trade Sweepstakes last summer, but, like their "runner-up" status in the Shohei Ohtani chase, they were likely just being used as pawns and negotiating ploys to get those players where they really wanted to be.

The NY Mets as the 5th-most-likely team to land Soto, at +900, is not the least bit surprising, given owner Steve Cohen's propensity to spend as much as his heart desires.
