Los Angeles Dodgers Sign Veteran Left-Handed Pitcher

The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed veteran left-handed pitcher Zach Logue to a minor league contract, assigning him to Triple-A Oklahoma City. 

Bringing ability to both start and relieve, Logue addresses a critical need for the organization as Oklahoma City has cycled through 48 pitchers, including 29 different starters, this year. 

In his debut with Oklahoma City, Logue allowed one run on five hits over three innings, striking out one without issuing a walk.

Logue, a ninth-round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017, was part of the trade that sent Matt Chapman to the Oakland Athletics. 

He made his major league debut with Oakland in 2022 but struggled at the highest level, posting a 6.88 ERA over 68 innings. 

Despite this, Logue has enjoyed a resurgence in the minors this season, demonstrating improved control and effectiveness. 

He posted a strong 2.68 ERA across 90.2 innings with 86 strikeouts in 24 appearances for Atlanta’s Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi affiliates before being designated for assignment by the Braves.

The Dodgers are known for their success in finding undervalued talent, and Logue's recent minor league success aligns with that strategy. 

With the postseason approaching and the team’s pitching depth stretched thin, Logue could be a valuable asset, potentially providing spot starts or long relief. 

If his solid Triple-A performance carries over, he might earn a call-up to contribute during the final stretch of the season, particularly if the Dodgers secure a first-round playoff bye.
