This DFA comes as the Dodgers clear space for the return of star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who has been activated from the 60-day injured list after recovering from a rotator cuff strain.
Yamamoto, who signed a record-breaking 12-year, $325 million contract in the offseason, had been sidelined for nearly three months.
His return is crucial for the Dodgers, as they aim to solidify their rotation ahead of the postseason. Before his injury, Yamamoto had a 6-2 record with a 2.92 ERA over 14 starts, and the team hopes he can regain his dominant form.
As for Ramirez, he will now go through waivers for the second time this season.
If he clears, he could either elect free agency or remain with the Dodgers' organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
