Los Angeles Dodgers DFA Left-Handed Pitcher

The Los Angeles Dodgers have designated left-handed reliever Nick Ramirez for assignment, marking the second time this season he has been removed from the 40-man roster.

Ramirez, 35, has struggled in limited opportunities, posting a 6.08 ERA with a 1.87 WHIP across 13.1 innings in eight appearances.

Acquired from the New York Yankees for cash considerations in April, Ramirez has been unable to replicate his 2023 success, where he posted a 2.66 ERA over 40.2 innings with New York.

His most recent outing saw him give up three runs (one earned) over two innings in a 10-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs, leading to his removal from the roster.

This DFA comes as the Dodgers clear space for the return of star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who has been activated from the 60-day injured list after recovering from a rotator cuff strain.

Yamamoto, who signed a record-breaking 12-year, $325 million contract in the offseason, had been sidelined for nearly three months.

His return is crucial for the Dodgers, as they aim to solidify their rotation ahead of the postseason. Before his injury, Yamamoto had a 6-2 record with a 2.92 ERA over 14 starts, and the team hopes he can regain his dominant form.

As for Ramirez, he will now go through waivers for the second time this season.

If he clears, he could either elect free agency or remain with the Dodgers' organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
