Arizona Diamondbacks DFA Trade Deadline Acquisition

The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated veteran right-hander Dylan Floro for assignment after a series of poor outings since being acquired from the Washington Nationals at the trade deadline.

Floro, 33, was brought in to bolster Arizona's bullpen during their playoff push, having posted a stellar 2.06 ERA over 52.1 innings with Washington.

However, his performance sharply declined in Arizona, where he posted a 9.37 ERA across 16.1 innings, including a disastrous outing against the Milwaukee Brewers in which he allowed five earned runs in two innings.

The move to DFA Floro came after his velocity noticeably dropped, with his sinker falling from 90.4 mph in July to 88.4 mph in September, contributing to elevated exit velocities and diminished effectiveness.

Floro’s struggles left the Diamondbacks little choice but to make a roster change as they fight for a postseason spot.

Despite his overall season ERA of 3.80, his inability to regain form in Arizona's bullpen pushed him into lower-leverage situations, ultimately leading to the decision to part ways.

Floro will now either be placed on waivers or released, with the possibility of electing free agency if unclaimed.

However, he won’t be eligible for the postseason with any new team, limiting his potential market.

In a corresponding move, Arizona recalled 23-year-old left-hander Blake Walston from Triple-A Reno. Walston, a former first-round pick, has made three big-league appearances this season, posting a solid 2.84 ERA over 12.2 innings.

With Ryne Nelson recently placed on the injured list, Walston adds much-needed depth to a bullpen that has been stretched thin due to injuries.
