Texas Rangers Place 2 Players On Waivers

The Texas Rangers have placed outfielders Travis Jankowski and Robbie Grossman on outright waivers.

Both players, who are set to become free agents at the end of the year, can continue to play for Texas while on waivers.

However, because outright waivers are irrevocable, if either player is claimed within the 48-hour waiver period, they will automatically be transferred to the claiming team, which will assume the remainder of their contracts.

Robbie Grossman, 34, has been a reliable hitter against left-handed pitching this season, posting a strong .279/.388/.430 slash line in those matchups.

His switch-hitting ability and track record make him an attractive option for playoff contenders looking to add a bat for specific matchups, especially given his minimal remaining salary.

On the other hand, Travis Jankowski, 33, has struggled offensively with a .195/.257/.234 batting line, but his speed and defensive versatility remain significant assets.

Jankowski's ability to play all three outfield positions and his above-average sprint speed make him a valuable late-game option for teams needing defensive reinforcements or a pinch-runner as they head into the postseason.

Both players could play specialized roles for a new team, contributing in decisive matchups as the playoff race intensifies.
